A real challenge facing the utility industry is the age old adage of garbage in, garbage out. In other words, for a user of any data set to make good decisions which are based on the informational data at hand, he must have the real time ability to search and quantify the data’s integrity, including its source, informational accuracy and level of precision. We call this the data “pedigree.” When collecting, storing, and retrieving data either for, into, and from a single source, it is a relatively easy task to display the data in its original positional references.
